Our scope

What medical cleaning covers

Medical cleaning is the environmental deep cleaning of medical premises such as GP surgeries, health centres, dental and veterinary practices, pharmacies and private clinics. We clean the building and its surfaces to the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025.

Our medical cleaning services cover consulting rooms, treatment rooms, dental surgeries, decontamination rooms, waiting areas, washrooms and staff areas. We deep clean each quarter or every six months, or as a one-off before an inspection. We can clean out of hours where needed, to keep disruption to your appointments to a minimum.

We help you meet the relevant premises cleanliness standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme.

We work for infection prevention and control (IPC) leads, practice managers, practice owners and registered managers, from single practices to primary care networks.

Our operatives are IPC trained and DBS checked. We hold ISO 9001, certified through a UKAS-accredited body, plus SafeContractor and Constructionline Gold.

Why it matters

What goes wrong when medical cleaning isn't done right

Missed high-touch points can let MRSA survive on surfaces

Viruses left alive by the wrong disinfectant can spread

Harsh chemicals on examination seating can crack covers, leaving gaps for germs

Leaving shed hair behind cages and in corners can let fungal spores linger

Methods and capability

How we deep clean a medical practice

Our teams are highly experienced in the methods required to deep clean medical premises. From choosing the right disinfectant and colour-coded equipment for each room, through to cleaning a decontamination room without carrying dirt from its dirty zone into its clean one.

Equipment and materials

Colour-coded microfibre cloths, mops and buckets, to the national scheme or your practice's own

Single-use cloths and mop heads for clinical rooms

Neutral detergents to lift dirt and grease before disinfection

Chlorine-based disinfectants for washrooms and sanitary fittings

Sporicidal disinfectants for Clostridioides difficile

Parvovirus-effective disinfectants for veterinary practices

Steam cleaners, scrubber dryers and rotary machines for hard floors

Carpet and upholstery cleaning machines for waiting areas, and HEPA-filtered vacuums for fine dust

How we clean it

Detergent first to lift the soil, then disinfectant in clinical rooms, washrooms and wherever there is an infection risk

Every disinfectant left on the surface for its full contact time

High-touch points cleaned and disinfected, including door handles, keyboards, telephones and light switches

Clinical hand wash basins, sinks and sluices cleaned and disinfected

Hard floors machine scrubbed, including along the welded seams and coved edges

Blood and body fluid spills cleaned up with spill kits, following the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual

Clinical waste bagged and segregated in line with HTM 07-01, ready for collection

Controls and records

Risk assessments and method statements issued before we start

A written cleaning specification for every room

COSHH assessments and current safety data sheets for every cleaning product we use

Gloves, aprons and other PPE for every task

ATP swab results, where required

Written sign-off at the end of each clean, with a cleaning log and before and after photographs for every room

A confidentiality agreement signed with your practice

IPC-trained, DBS-checked operatives

How we prove it

Standards, regulations and accreditations

These are the regulations, standards and schemes that govern medical cleaning, and what we do for each one.

NHS cleanliness standards and the IPC manual

The National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2025 set how clean each area should be by functional risk category, and the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual sets the cleaning methods primary care follows. We plan each clean by room risk category and clean in line with the manual.

CQC regulation 15

Regulation 15 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 requires a registered practice's premises to be clean, and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) enforces it. We help you meet it with a periodic deep clean and a dated record of every visit.

HTM 01-05

Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 01-05 is the decontamination guidance dental practices in England work to. Under it, clinical and decontamination room floors should be impervious, with welded or sealed joins. We clean those floors and surfaces to your decontamination protocol, with products that won't damage the sealing on the floor.

RCVS and GPhC standards

Under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme, accredited practices carry out risk-based deep cleans, and the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards require a registered pharmacy to be clean and hygienic. We help vet practices and pharmacies meet them, with a dated record of each visit.

COSHH and HTM 07-01

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002 require exposure to hazardous substances, from disinfectants to blood and body fluids, to be controlled, and HTM 07-01 sets how healthcare waste should be segregated. We assess the products we use before they reach site, and bag and segregate clinical waste ready for collection.

ISO 9001, SSIP and contractor schemes

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management, and SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) recognises a contractor's health and safety pre-qualification. We are ISO 9001 certified through a body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), hold SSIP recognition through Constructionline Gold and Avetta, and are SafeContractor approved.

How we do it

How your medical deep clean will run

From the initial survey and quotation through to cleaning, inspection and sign-off, we manage each stage of the deep clean with your practice team.

01

Survey, scope and quote

We review the rooms to be cleaned and your closing times, visiting where needed. We then provide a written scope of works and quotation, clearly setting out the rooms included.

02

Planning and RAMS

We plan the clean around your opening hours, and write risk assessments and method statements for you to review before we start.

03

Medical deep cleaning

We clean the practice room by room, at a time agreed with you.

04

Verification and reporting

Once cleaning is complete, we check each room with your practice contact for sign-off, then hand over the cleaning log, with before and after photographs, for your files.
